Who is Meritaten?
Meritaten was the eldest daughter of the Egyptian pharaoh Akhenaten and Queen Nefertiti. She was a prominent figure during the Amarna Period, a time of religious change in Egypt. Her name means ‘Beloved of Aten’, the new god worshipped by Akhenaten. Some theories suggest she might have ruled after her father’s death.
I named my main character Meritaten after this real-life Egyptian princess. Like the historical Meritaton, my character is strong, intelligent, and faces many challenges. But the story in “Loved by the Sun” is a work of fiction based on my imagination.
